Statewide Housing Industry Events:
HBAV is made up of 15 local home builder associations in Virginia. HBAV’s current membership includes 3,019 member companies in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Of the 3,019 members, 908 are builder/developer members and 2,111 are associate members. Associates members are those members who provide a product or service to a builder or developer. HBAV holds numerous business development, educational, and networking events throughout the year. Save the date for this years HBAV Annual Conference and Installation of Officers. Other HBAV events include a spring and fall membership meetings, Annual Build PAC Golf Tournament, HBAV Day on the Hill, and a reception for HBAV members at the NAHB International Builders Show. HBAV has a number of ways for members to get involved and help lead our organization.
HBAV Membership Committee: The HBAV Membership Committee meets throughout the year to establish HBAV membership goals, a strategy to work with local HBA’s on achieving its goals, and communication of HBAV member benefits.
HBAV Education Foundation: The HBAV Education Foundation recently updated its by-laws to better address the labor shortage being felt by HBAV members around the state. The HBAV education will leverage its resources to assist local HBA, CTE Schools, and Colleges in their construction trades workforce development initiatives. HBAV Legislative Committee: The HBAV Legislative Committee helps to establish HBAV positions and priorities on legislative and regulatory matters affecting the home building industry in Virginia. The HBAV Legislative Committee is appointed by local HBA’s. Contact your local HBA today and ask to be appointed to the HBAV legislative committee.
HBAV Build PAC: Every strong trade association has three pillars to its government affairs program. The first is a full time legislative team, the second is grass roots efforts, and the third is a political action committee. The HBAV Political Action Committee (PAC) is a pro-housing, non-partisan committee that supports elected officials and candidates for office that are pro-housing. By supporting candidates that are pro-housing, HBAV members can successfully operate their businesses in Virginia under pro-housing policies and regulations. Legislative and Regulatory Representation:
Thanks to our members, HBAV is the only trade association with a full time lobbying team dedicated to promoting the housing industry to state legislators and lawmakers in Virginia. On average, the Virginia General Assembly acts on over 2,000 bills. Of the 2,000 bills that are introduced, typically 150 would have a direct or indirect impact on the housing industry. Throughout the year, HBAV will track submitted legislation daily and solicits comments and input from HBAV members. Members have the opportunity to join their local legislative committee and be appointed by their local association to serve on the HBAV Legislative Committee. The HBAV Legislative Committee will meet in Richmond throughout the Session of the Virginia General Assembly to review and adopt policy on every piece of legislation that is introduced.
