NAHB Professional Designation Program HBAV offers comprehensive continuing education through the NAHB Professional Designation Program (formally CGB). The program is directed to providing active certification for professionals of the building industry who complete a series of required NAHB courses covering the fundamentals of building and management in the residential construction process. This is a general program consisting of distinct subject areas or units. The units were selected by a committee of builders and academicians, as endorsed by the Home Builders Institute (HBI), the educational arm of the National Association of Home Builders. These courses represent the major areas of knowledge most important for success in the home building and related industries. Nine units must be completed to obtain NAHB professional designation. Builders are facing important issues in these changing times, and the this program covers them all in detail. Besides offering practical information, the program gives builders an opportunity to share knowledge and insight with other builders in the same situations. We in the Home Builders Association of Virginia believe in doing more than just talking about our future; we want to help build it. That's why we have established the HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION OF VIRGINIA EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION. Virginia builders can invest in the future of our state and nation by helping a deserving young man or woman further his or her education. What Are the Home Builders Scholarships? The Home Builders Scholarships are general-purpose, post-secondary scholarships. Any Virginia high school senior planning on furthering his or her education is eligible to apply. Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of several factors, including financial need, academic accomplishments, and personal qualities. We Need the Support of Every Builder The Home Builders Scholarships are funded through the HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION OF VIRGINIA EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION. The Foundation is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and all contributions to the Foundation are deductible. The Foundation, while established by the Home Builders Association of Virginia, is separate and must raise its own endowment. That's where we need your help! We must raise a sufficient endowment for the Foundation so that the Home Builders Scholarships can be supported each year by the income on that endowment. Letting Virginians Know That Builders Care The awarding of Home Builders Scholarships will do more than help an outstanding young person pursue a higher education. It will remind the public that the home builders of Virginia care about our young people, care about our state, and care about our future. That's an important message to get across at a time when "no-growth" advocates often criticize economic development and those who produce it. How the Foundation Works The administration of the Foundation will be governed by a Board of Trustees recommended by the HBAV President and approved by the HBAV Executive Committee an HBAV Board of Directors. It will be the responsibility of the Trustees to formulate policies to govern the application, review and selection of the recipients. It will also be the responsibility of the Trustees to invest the funds. All Trustees will be members of HBAV and contributors to the HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION OF VIRGINIA EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION. Giving Something Back Virginia is great state, and we in the building industry are privileged to live and work here. Now we have a chance to give a little something back to our home state, to help create a future even better than our past. The Home Builders Scholarships will help build a better future. Send in your contribution today! Or, if you choose, you may make a pledge to be paid over four years, in equal, annual payments.
